the ‘parkbos’ (park + forest) is essential as a suburban recreational green area for the city of ghent. fragmentation impedes the perception of the area as one entity. this is why the project office parkbos, together with the agency for nature & forest set an assignment to develop a corporate identity. the combination of nature and culture is the main thread throughout the parkbos. the field of tension between the castle buildings with their gardens and the organic of the forest vegetation is the principal guide for the development of adapted furniture. this is visible in the transformation of the corporate identity between park and forest. near the castles the style will be more ordered and structured, more civilized. near the forest the style will be more chaotic and in disorder, more natural.
